Exciting Work

It’s a lot easier to get people to work hard (and/or people work hard) when it’s exciting.

The honeymoon period is really exciting. And then it wears off.

The release of an album or a project or a tour is really exciting. And then it wears off.

So if we see this our next approach can be one of two ways…

1. Pursue the task of always being inside of excitement, knowing that when the excitement drops so does the level of work, care, pursuit…or…

2. Pursue the task of learning to work just has hard and effectively when it’s not exciting…and also leading and inspiring the people around you to do the same.

The Best Way To Make More Money

A few months ago I wrote down the blog post idea…

“The best way to make more money is to help make someone else make more money.”

And then yesterday I read a section of a wonderful book I received as a gift with this metaphor…

It’s “WE’RE off to see the wizard”.

Not I. It’s not “I’m off to see the wizard”…it’s all of us together, similar path, goals and timeline but some specific, unique differences too.

So that’s what caused this post to happen tonight specifically.

If you can make more money for your manager, agent, PR rep, drummer, dare I say…your record label…it’s going to be good for you too.

The best way for Dorothy to get to Oz was to help other people get to Oz.

2017

2017 had nothing against you…and nothing for you.  2017 is a year and years can’t giveth or taketh away.

And we know this. Duh.

But all the sarcastic snark of ‘2017, why were you so bad to me’…yes, I know, it maybe a bit of a joke, but it serves as another subtle storyline that pushes responsibility away from us as opposed to bringing responsibility closer.

The successful people and artists we all look up to are the type of people who pull responsibility as close to themselves as possible.

They didn’t expect anything from the year 2017, they simply took action.

They don’t expect anything from the year 2018, they are simply, currently taking action.

2018 has nothing for us. But we have lots for the people we interact with and the world around us.

Pull responsibility close and take action now.

Getting Down To It

Let’s get down to it.

It’s probably a great way to start the year, getting down to it.

We all have some things we’re very aware we need to get down to…despite the fear, anxiety, distractions, fluff, sidebars, pitstops, excuse 1, excuse 2, excuse 282390312.

Cut it all out. Get down to it.

Before Mass Culture

Right now today you can’t build a mass culture movement, or one that has lots of people or subscribers or customers.

The only thing you can work on today and build is a micro culture. A very tiny specific culture.

And as we all know, all mass culture movements (in music: rock n roll, disco, grunge, etc) start as micro. So micro, tiny, specific is worth working on…it’s the size of culture you must have first before mass can happen.
