Your Clickers

When you post a link to your thing, most of the people who click on it are going to click on it whether or not its a great post. They’re clicking because it’s you, not because of the quality of post.

So how do you get more people like that?

One way is this…

By actually making it a great post (even though you don’t have to) in order to grab a few of the fence riders and then making the content after the click exceed expectations.

Moving From The Fog or With It

If you’re in a fog you can choose one of two things…

Wait for the fog to pass and then take the next.

Or

Take a step while you’re in the fog knowing that while it may be a step towards getting out of the fog, it may also be a step with the fog or even deeper into it.

What sign or metric are you looking for before you make the move?

Do you have to know it’s the right move before you’ll make it?

Is impatience prohibiting you from the growth you actually desire?

Spiritual Music

Music doesn’t need spiritual lyrics in order to be spiritual. Music speaks a spiritual language. A language of the heart, the soul.

The power is in its magical ability to bypass the head and move straight to the heart.

It uncovers and deepens our love and hope. It uncovers and deepens our individuality and our togetherness at the same time.

The language of music isn’t concerned with reason and facts and effort.

It’s a redemptive language that lifts the soul despite not having adequate reason and facts and effort.

Supporting And Competing

In music there’s a fine line between supporting and competing.

Does the synth compete with the lead vocal or support the lead vocal? When does it cross over from supporting to competing? Or from competing to supporting?

It’s a really tricky balancing act.

But it gets a little more simple when you realize that it’s not about supporting or competing elements, it’s about does this song do what you want it to do…does it have the desired effect?

Learning To Box

You can learn a LOT about boxing by watching Rocky 1-5, watching a few fights on HBO and playing Mike Tyson’s Punch out.

By the end of all that you know a lot…relative to knowing nothing at all about boxing.

But now you’ve hit a ceiling. One more viewing or Rocky isn’t going to make a difference…the only way now is to go and box.

Compelling People

Compelling people make compelling artists.

And there’s lots of ways to be (or become more) compelling.

If you think about yourself metaphorically as an old stereo system: It’s not about adding or taking away knobs on the stereo, but knowing how to adjust the ones that are already there.
