The construction workers who built the house I’m sitting in and the ones who built the place you’re sitting in would take a lunch break everyday they were building.
After that lunch break they didn’t really feel like going back to work.
But they did anyway. And I’m glad they did.
Keep doing good work. It matters. It extends way beyond where you think it does.

The difference brings so much clarity.
Out of my league means you believe in your own stuckness, that there’s a better league but yours is inferior.
Not my league means you have chosen your league and are perfectly content that your league doesn’t include everyone.
That’s what we’re all doing. The ideas we’re all expressing and pedaling and offering up are nothing new.
So if it’s all been said before, why even bother finding another way to say it?
Because it’s not the words that are the most important thing we bring to the table. It’s the connection. Connection is the unique part.
So while your words might be nothing new…finding a new way to say it, blended with the connection you have with your audience and your world…that is truly new. Truly eye opening.
»» Connection is derived from your strength of presence. Words are simply technique. And presence (connection) trumps technique. Presence makes technique look good.
»» We can easily copy technique (and often times we should). But connection and presence can rarely be duplicated...it’s best to build your own.
You probably don’t write songs with a campfire in mind, but being on the list of songs that get played at campfires isn’t a bad list to be on…
What kind of songs get played around the campfire? Answer…songs that are easily played around a campfire.
Classics.
Songs with a great chorus.
Simple songs.
Songs that don’t have to be sung well in order to be great and bring back the memories.
Songs with lyrics that people are proud to remember in front of their friends.
Songs that you don’t have to get all the lyrics right in order to still get the feeling.
Songs that when you’re finished with it, immediately spark the next song.
Songs that sounds extra good at midnight.
There is plenty to be confused about. You could walk around all day and all week completely confused. Just walkin around lookin around, confused.
Confusion comes from a lack of understanding…and understanding people, situations and why people do things in certain situations is hard to come by.
So it’s up to us to choose the confusion we will focus on. To choose if the road to understanding is worth the price or our attention, energy and resources.
It’s better to get off to a fun start than a normal start.
If you’re meeting someone new, interviewing for a YouTube channel, interviewing for a job, right at the beginning ask them what’s their favorite vacation. It’s fun to talk about vacation. It brings back light and happy memories. And now you’re talking with a person who has just told a fun and happy story. You’ve shifted the course.
Starting with a little fun takes a little more energy. It’s risky. The normal way is fine…no one is going to complain that you didn’t start with something exceptional.
