Five Shows

What if FIVE was the the maximum amount of shows you could play per year?

If you could only play five shows you couldn’t just say yes to say yes.

You would have to really sit down with everyone and discuss what the criteria is going to be for a show that gets the green light. Because the price of wasting a Yes is pretty big when you only have five yes’s per year.

What’s at the top of the priority list for your five shows?

Money

Audience size

Venue size

Venue notoriety

Road lifestyle

Association with other bands

Appeasing promotors, agents, labels

Playing to the hardcore fans

Getting more new fans

If you only have five to spend, you get specific about what their value needs to be.

Personality And Skill

When boy bands and girl groups get put together, the personnel is chosen more on account of personality and marketing than skill and quality.

It’s not the worst idea in the world.

The powers that be know that personalities are more likely to evoke emotional connection quickly than leaning strictly on great material and quality music making.

As for you…We hope you connect with us on both fronts.

Spitting It Out

For at least a moment (probably longer) before you spit out that great idea, it was already there in your head, heart, soul, subconscious…waiting to get spit out.

How did it get there? I don’t know.

But the concept that the idea was there before you voiced it should bring curiosity about voicing more ideas so you can find out what else is in there.

Better All The Time

If you keep doing your thing, making your thing, writing your thing…you’re going to get better at it.

But there’s another level where during that process you make a conscious decision that you are GOING to get better as you keep doing it. Getting better not only by default but on purpose.

The ‘better’ compounds exponentially.

So if you’re going to keep at it and get a little bit better anyway…why not make the a decision and really see what you can do?

Doing Something With Winter

Summer isn’t broken, it’s just not here yet.

And no sense in getting upset at winter for not being summer. That’s just a distraction.

We’re here with what we have. And it’s going to change over time. But rather than just waiting around for the change, we can do something with what we have.
