Unplugging The Exit Sign
A friend of mine who owns some commercial buildings said that whenever the fire marshal comes to inspect, he always unplugs an exit sign.
Why? Because the fire marshal has come all the way to inspect. An inspector wants to find something. An inspector wants to feel smart and observant. An inspector wants job security. An inspector has to validate the title of inspector.
The inspector is going to find something.
So give the inspector something to report.
Getting Better At Not Being Good
Or rather…getting better at knowing what to do with the feeling of ‘not feeling like you’re very good at something’.
When you’re in the habit of trying new things, you get better at processing feeling not very good at them.
Said another way…the feeling of not being very good doesn’t easily become a deterrent or discouragement…but rather, you know it to be part of the process. The uneasiness of not being very good quickly turns into curiosity about what might come next.

Path To Fame And Fortune
There are club acts that make a million dollars per year.
There are acts that play arena stages that make way less than that.

The arena act isn’t always recognized.
So the question isn’t which path will lead to fame and fortune…the question is…what do you want?
