We Are The Ones

We are the initiators

The builders

The performers

The memory makers

The magicians

The archeologists

The inventors

The connectors

We are the ones who see, create and share beauty with the world and for the world…even when it seems impossible…even when we don’t feel like it.

The new year is as good of time as any to decide what the upcoming year is going to be about. What our contribution will be. What we can be relied upon for. How we will serve. Who we will serve. And the sacrifices we’re willing to make in order to make it happen.

What Are You Going To Leave Out?

After you’ve cleaned the house top to bottom, you get to decide…what are you going to leave out?

On the one hand it makes sense to leave everything out because eventually you’re going to use it and it’ll be out when you need it. But you know that’s no good…that’s why you cleaned up in the first place.

If you leave something out against a clean backdrop…it sticks out. In the best way.

Here’s some things worth leaving out…

A journal

A drawing book

The book you’re reading

The book you want to read

Your favorite book

Your stationary and stamps

A guitar

A polaroid camera

Your water bottle

A deck of cards

Running shoes

The linked keys that you have to get apart

The Full Clean

Sometimes it’s time for the full clean, not just put the toys away.

Sometimes it’s time to repave the road, not just fill the potholes.

Sometimes it’s time to make a new website, not just add another tab.

The full clean isn’t something we’re going to do everyday…but the full clean gives the fullest fresh start…and sometimes that’s what we need.

Desires Come And Go

And sometimes quickly.

Action, commitment, humility, faith, community, and logical calendar planning are much better at steering us toward the life we want for the long term.

Boy Band Dancing

It’s fun because we can tell how good one group is from another.

Boy band or girl band dancing is all about how in sync everyone is. Did everyone move their hands at the same time at the same height? Did they spin all together? Pump their fists with the same intensity?

So it becomes less about how good each person is at dancing (super hard to judge) and more about how exactly the same they are (easy to judge).

And so it fuels the teeny bopper fodder. It’s another talking point to create tension within a scene…so the scene gets talked about more.

Brilliant.

Clark's Good Time

Having a good time trying to have a good time. This is Clark Griswold.

But not so good at reading the room.

And I’m not sure Clark would know what to do if he was having a good time as opposed to trying to have a good time.

Do we really want the thing we say we want…or do we cherish even more the tension of not having it?
