The second one is almost always more true. That extra word.
But we see and hear other people who are highly skilled and we forget that while they’re good at it…they actually GOT good at it. It was a gradual process. They weren’t born that way.

Good albums are just as hard to make is the bad ones. That’s why it’s tough to tell how good an album is by hearing the artist talk about it in interviews.
The artist talks about the making of the album as a long journey, ups and downs, creative road blocks and break throughs, the blood sweat and tears and years.
But amount of effort has never been a very good measurement for how good a song is going to be.
It turns out, if you really wanna know, you just need to listen to the songs for yourself.
We all have it.
That’s why our next choice is so interesting and important. We recognize we have all that we need and more, so what are we going to choose to do with that level of freedom?
Our mental bandwidth isn’t used up by survival…but that’s how powerful it is. The cognitive force that we used to use to keep us alive can now be pointed in a different direction.
It’s a luxurious level of freedom…that is worth being thankful for.
How many burger joints are there?
If you’re going to open a burger place it’s a good idea to find out how many other burger places there are in town and where they’re all located.
On the other hand…
How many bands are there?
Nobody starts a band and decides on their genre by evaluating how many similar bands there are in the market, or how many artists are on Spotify.
Music, in its essence, is from the gut. It’s not concerned with market share or consumer trends. It’s made from emotions and instincts that are put into melody and rhythm and words. It’s not designed to be a profession. It’s designed to be connective.
